About Us – Quayside Childcare

At Quayside Childcare in New Westminster, we believe every child is a unique and special individual. Our goal is to provide a warm, nurturing environment where children feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow in their own way. We focus on the whole child — supporting mental, emotional, physical, and social development during these important early years.

Quayside Childcare was co-founded by Sally, an early childhood educator with over 20 years of experience, and Shar, whose passion for building a welcoming and supportive space for families helped shape the heart of the centre. Together, they created an environment where children feel at home, families are embraced, and meaningful learning takes place every day. Their hands-on leadership ensures each child is nurtured with love, patience, and respect.

We understand that children thrive in a secure and emotionally safe setting. That’s why we’ve created a calm, engaging environment where children are encouraged to express themselves, try new things, and explore the world around them. Our approach is rooted in play-based learning, with fun and purposeful activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and confidence.

From group games and imaginative play to music, art, and outdoor exploration, our program supports development across all areas. Children build language and cognitive skills, improve coordination, and learn how to navigate social interactions in positive ways. We believe in giving children the time and space to grow at their own pace — while gently challenging them to build new skills.

We also place a strong emphasis on social development. Through cooperative activities and shared experiences, children learn to work together, build friendships, and develop empathy and communication skills that will serve them for life. We celebrate their successes, support them through challenges, and help them build a strong sense of self-worth.
